RECURRING DREAMS Lenke Arnstein Lenke Arnstein gr
ew up in a village on the shores of Lake Balaton but later lived in Budapest
with her married sister.
When the Nazis occupied Hungary, she wanted to return home, but her
father, sensing the impending tragedy, urged her to remain where her
chance of survival would be greater. Lenke obtained Aryan papers and
did survive, but with many narrow escapes. She married just after the
war and migrated to Australia. Despite the recounting of much hardship,
Lenke’s
is essentially a love story – from her happy childhood to
her forty-seven-year marriage to her beloved Adolf. |
